Our commitment
The Temu / Shein Tariff Impact Checker, operated by José Manuel Volante González, strives to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA in line with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 guidance, as well as the European Accessibility Act standards.
What we have done
- Every interactive control (form fields, category and origin selectors, links) is reachable and operable with the keyboard alone.
- A "Skip to content" link is the first focusable element on every page so screen-reader and keyboard users can bypass the header.
- Color contrast for body text, headings, and the receipt ledger is checked against the WCAG AA 4.5:1 (normal text) and 3:1 (large text) thresholds.
- The calculator updates results in an
aria-liveregion so assistive technology announces the recalculated duty stack without a page reload. - Page structure uses semantic landmarks (
main, header, nav, footer) and a single logical heading hierarchy per page. - Animations respect the
prefers-reduced-motionuser setting.
Known limitations
Because the tool collapses the HTSUS catalog to chapter-level category buckets, some labels are necessarily abbreviated. We are reviewing whether longer descriptive text would help screen-reader users without cluttering the visual layout.
